Members of the United States Army and Air Force have conducted a training program for personnel from the Fire Service and Civil Defense department on the Cox’s Bazar sea beach.
According to Md. Tanharul Islam, Deputy Assistant Director of Cox’s Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defense, the training began on Sunday and concluded on Wednesday with a certificate distribution ceremony.
The training sessions were held at the beach’s parasailing point. With the support of the U.S. Embassy, American army and air force personnel provided the training to Bangladeshi fire service officers and staff.
Tanharul Islam stated that the four-day training primarily focused on rescue operations during natural disasters such as floods, tidal surges, and cyclones. Participants were trained on how to rescue people stranded by floods or swept away by water.
A total of 15 officers and firefighters from the Cox’s Bazar Fire Service took part in the training.
“This training was conducted following instructions from higher authorities,” added Tanharul Islam.
